Black abolitionists, Black anarchists, and other Black radicals have been calling for this for many years. chanting “no justice, no peace” and then scolding rightfully angry youth for destroying and taking back from these exploitative chain stores is wack. A “peaceful” protest is counterintuitive and liberals love it. Any chance a liberal has to co-opt a movement and strip it of its radical core they will take it and run it into the ground. There should be NO compromises, no feeble calls for reforming the way in which police are able to keep on murdering Black people. We need to abolish the police, prisons, capitalism and the state in order to finally start working towards a world that isn’t ran on anti-Blackness, anti-Indigenity, and exploitation. People should be able to take from these capitalist institutions that exploit us and they should burn them down too if they want. If an area is packed with chain stores belonging to big corporations, why is looting and destruction of these monuments of exploitation so frowned upon? Are these soulless buildings what make up the community? Is it not the connection and bond we share with our neighbors? We don’t need a state and we don’t need jobs grinding us to stumps and stripping us of our agency as people for the sake of reproducing capital that we barely get a taste of. We can take it all back and provide for ourselves, by ourselves.
